BSCDA F2
The Role Of The BSCDA F2 and Membership Thereof
Further to a number of recent enquiries, BriSCA F2 feels that it is worthwhile to underline the following points relating to the position of the BSCDA F2, and the subject of drivers being members of the BSCDA F2.
Per 17 November 2009 Statement
"BriSCA F2 will...continue a relationship with the BSCDA F2."
Per 25 January 2010 Forum Report
"...the BSCDA F2 had written to BriSCA F2, requesting a meeting. Collectively, the promoters were going to discuss a response to the letter..."
Per 4 March 2010 Meeting (4 Promoters and 4 BSCDA F2 Committee Members)
"The BSCDA F2 was given reassurances that it does still have a significant role to play in the future of the sport, most notably with regard to input into car construction rules..."
At this meeting, the BSCDA F2 Committee Members raised the question of whether drivers were members of the BSCDA F2 for 2010.
The Promoters explained that they did not see any change, and that they considered drivers who licence WOULD be members of the BSCDA F2, although ultimately, that decision rested with the BSCDA F2 itself, as to whether the BSCDA F2 would recognise licensed drivers as being members of the BSCDA F2.
Per 16 March 2010 Update
"...the BSCDA F2 has again been given strong reassurances and guarantees that once the BSCDA committee as a whole have addressed their Chairman's behaviour over the last 18 months, then:
- the BSCDA F2 will have a significant role to play in the future of the sport
- the BSCDA F2 will recommence its involvement in technical issues and car specifications
- BSCDA F2 Committee Members (when not competing in a race meeting themselves) will be given enhanced powers to assist Scrutineers on technical matters
- the BSCDA F2 will be invited to contribute to a review of technical procedures and processes"
At the risk of repeating itself, BriSCA F2 again strongly emphasises that there has never been any intention on the part of BriSCA F2, to dispense with, or eliminate, the BSCDA F2.
BriSCA F2 has asked the BSCDA F2 Committee, to address the behaviour of their Chairman, and to embrace the reorganisation of the sport's administration. In the meantime, the BSCDA F2 has taken the extraordinary decision to "...enter a period of hibernation".
