From RDC Promotions
The cancellation of the BriSCA F2 Stockcar Challenge Trophy meeting at Mildenhall Stadium on Sunday, June 17 has caused a few issues for RDC Promotions regarding upcoming events at the raceway which we would like to address here.
Firstly we would again like to apologise to all the drivers and fans effected and disappointed by the cancellation, especially those who made a wasted trip or part trip to the stadium. Again we are greatly appreciative of your understanding in the situation.
With regard to the F2 Challenge Trophy, RDC Promotions is keen to see the event, one of the formula’s longest running championships take place in 2012 whether it be at Mildenhall or elsewhere. We are presently in discussions with other BriSCA F2 Stockcar promoters to try and make sure this happens and if none of the remaining Mildenhall dates for the formula this season are suitable for the event to be re-run then we hope the event can be held elsewhere this season and maybe we will be able to stage the meeting again somewhere in the future. We hope either us or BriSCA F2 will be able to make an announcement on this very soon.
The cancellation has also caused us something of a problem with regard bookings for the Saturday (July 28) night programme of our forthcoming One Wild Weekend event at Mildenhall where we had intended to limit F2 bookings on the Saturday to 56 cars (with Sunday’s World of Shale qualifier open to all drivers with no limit on numbers). The matter is further complicated by our system of offering these bookings to drivers as and when they raced at Mildenhall for the second time this season.
Heading into Sunday’s planned meeting all but eight of the bookings for July 28 had been claimed and we were very confident that the remaining spots would have been filled, especially as there were more than eight drivers booked in for the meeting who would have subsequently raced at Mildenhall for the second time in 2012.
This has obviously created something of a difficult situation for us. On one hand we have to be realistic about our race programme on Saturday, July 28 but on the other hand we want to be fair to all the drivers who had a desire to race at this meeting and we are also eager to try and make something up to the drivers who have lost a meeting at Mildenhall which cannot be replaced in 2012.
We hope to make a decision on this matter as soon as possible and when more details are confirmed they will be announced on both this website and the RDC Promotions site. In the meantime we again thank all the BriSCA F2 Stockcar drivers and their teams for their understanding, patience and support at this time.
