Important information for all drivers and their teams racing at Mildenhall Stadium
This week we have an important message for all drivers who race at Mildenhall Stadium which is perhaps of more importance to their family, friends and mechanics regarding a clamp down on the problem of people going onto the raceway without permission.
In recent weeks and months we have seen an increasing problem of mechanics and family members going onto the raceway without permission and then causing further problems by refusing instructions to leave the track when requested.
This causes many problems. The few moments lost while we are dealing with these people is time we can never afford to lose during Mildenhall meetings and also it goes without saying that the confines of any raceway are a dangerous place and should be reserved only for those who should be there which is primarily drivers and raceway officials.
Therefore in order to get the problem back under control we feel we have little option but to introduce a zero tolerance policy on this issue which will come into immediate effect from Saturday night, April 30.
This will apply to all formulas at all meetings. First time offenders will be excluded from the remainder of the meeting and repeat offenders, those who refuse instructions to leave the raceway when requested and especially anyone who is verbally abusive to our staff will receive longer bans.
We understand that in the majority of cases this problem is not down to the driver themselves as they are already on the track and sometime do not request their team or family member come onto the raceway to assist them in whatever problem them have. However the rules of racing state that you are responsible for all those in your party so it is your responsibility to stress the importance of staying off the track to all your team and family members as the driver will suffer if they do not adhere to this ruling.
Please note that at Mildenhall this includes people coming onto the greyhound track. Everyone must stay behind the concrete wall for spectators.
This also applies when a driver is injured and in fact is especially important if a driver is being treated by our medical teams as the presence of family members or team mates can in fact interfere with their work and so this rule also applies in these situations.
In extreme cases, a family member or mechanic may be allowed on track, but they MUST go onto the track via the pit gate and they MUST get permission from the pit gate staff before going onto the raceway. This also applies to mechanics who take a race winners car back to the pits while they are on the lap of honour to begin work on the car for the next race.
