Zetec 1.8-Litre Engine Test Programme

BriSCA F2 is investigating the potential use of the 1.8-litre variant of the Zetec engine alongside the current 2.0-litre.

Initial testing has been positive; observations and feedback have given an indication that further testing and feedback could result in a viable alternative competitive engine.

The 1.8-litre engine being considered for use will be the Phase 3 "Black-Top" engine to the same regulations as the current 2.0-litre variant.

1.8-litre "Black-Top" engine codes under review for potential use are: RKF & RKH (Mondeo, 05/98 on), and EYDA to EYDH (Focus).

The Phase 1 & 2 "Silver-Top" engines will NOT be permitted (from the Escort, Fiesta and early Mondeo, engine codes RDA, RKA, RKB, RKC & RQB).

Drivers are NOT permitted to run a 1.8-litre Zetec engine unless accepted as part of the official testing programme and given express permission to do so.

Any registered driver wishing to be involved in testing a 1.8-litre Zetec engine should initially register their interest via:
