BriSCA F2 Reorgnisation
Press Release: 17th November 2009
As part of the ongoing reorganisation of the management and control of oval racing in the UK, for January 1st 2010, the fiftieth year of BriSCA F2 Stock Car Racing, BriSCA F2 will become part of the Oval Racing Council International.
The ORCi has been at the forefront of developments in oval racing for many years, and has established new standards in Health and Safety, noise pollution, insurance and driver benefits. The ORCi licences the vast majority of drivers in oval racing in the UK, and prepares the rules of racing and car construction for all formulae outside of BriSCA F1 and F2 stock cars.
The ORCi is effectively the governing body for oval racing in the UK, and the majority of its members are promoters of BriSCA F2 stock cars. There will be no change to drivers’ benefits, insurance, complimentary admissions, licence costs, prize monies or car specifications that have already been agreed and announced.
BriSCA F2 will operate within the ORCi in the same way as Saloon Stock Cars, Lightning Rods, National Hot Rods, Stock Rods and all of the ORCi sanctioned formulae, and the disciplinary system will remain exactly as it is, with the only change being the appeal route will be to the ORCi and not the old Stock Car Racing Board of Control.
BriSCA F2 will continue to have regular discussions with active drivers and car constructors when car regulations need to be reviewed, but in a less formal structure than was the case with the previous arrangements. BriSCA F2 will issue Drivers Licences, and administer the sport on a day to day basis, and continue a relationship with the BSCDA F2.
The Chairman of BriSCA F2 for 2010 and 2011 will be Crispen Rosevear, Joint MD of Autospeed, and the Secretary will be Graham Bunter. It is not anticipated that any other officers will change.
BriSCA F2 are confident that these changes will streamline the operation of the sport, and take Europe’s largest racing formula forward into its fiftieth season, and beyond into the future.
