Exeter
Racecourse Display

|
Short oval circuit racing found itself with a notable presence
at the Devon Car Show on Sunday 27 July.
On
display at the event at Exeter Racecourse, was the BriSCA Formula
Two Stock Car of Jamie Beere which was recently refurbished ahead
of a first racing appearance of the season in late June, the Vauxhall
Nova Stock Rod of Barry Trickey that was first raced in May, and
the Autospeed Pace Car - a modified Mondeo ST24.
4FS Marketing oversaw the arrangements, and Paul Brown of 4FS reported
a successful day's publicity, saying, "I had spoken with Autospeed
many months ago, about having a stand at the show, in an effort
to publicise short oval racing to new people. The Show was busy,
and there was a lot of activity, particularly with the F2. During
the course of the day, well over 100 kids took a turn to sit in
the car. That is just the sort of thing which will continue to get
families interested."

HEALTH
& SAFETY UPDATE
|
The Oval Racing Council International
has again discussed the proposed £1 Health & Safety levy
on drivers, and having made considerable progress with its partners
in Insurance, are now able to announce that the levy will be reviewed
at the end of 2008 season.
The
budget that is necessary to rewrite the HSE Code of Practice, revise
and rewrite all of the Risk Assessment, and mandatory paperwork,
and the policy on noise pollution over the next three seasons and
beyond, is onsiderable, and will be funded by promoters, Insurance
brokers, the ORC's Insurance Company and by driver contributions
by way of the levy.
This
work is vital to keep the sport in operation, and the request for
the £1 levy is considered the fairest way to collect a contribution
from the drivers, and it will be all drivers who race on tracks
governed by the ORCI.

Official Oil and
Fuel treatment of BriSCA F2

|
Millers
Oils Sponsorship Partnership with BriSCA F2
A brand new sponsorship partnership was launched in mid-December,
aimed at significantly enhancing the profile of Millers Oils through
the short oval motor racing community.
Following a series of productive negotiations with short oval racing
representative Paul Brown and Stephen Parker of Millers Oils, the
sponsorship partnership will see Millers Oils become the Official
Oil & Fuel Treatment of BriSCA F2 for 2008 and 2009.
In the year ahead, the name of Millers Oils will enjoy high profile
exposure within the short oval racing community, by way of decals
displayed on race cars and adverts in publications throughout the
sport, and with BriSCA F2 and the ORCi helping to encourage retail
supplies of Millers Oils at race meetings throughout the UK.
Accordingly, this will then introduce Millers Oils to a whole range
of potential new customers.
From a technical point of view, Millers Oils will continue to oversee
random fuel sampling within short oval racing.
The launch, which took place at Millers Oils on the 14th December,
featured the BriSCA F2 Stock Car of Huddersfields James Thackra
the former British and European Champion, who finished as runner-up
in the 2007 World Championship.

Marketing Agreement

|
BriSCA
F2 is pleased to announce that a deal to improve marketing and sponsorship
opportunities for Europe’s number one opened wheeled formula
has been completed.
Paul
Brown will spearhead the role, by expanding the already successful
BriSCA F2 Partnership scheme, and by improving the general marketing
of the sport, with considerable focus centred on arranging major
sponsorship packages.
The
aims of the project are:
- to significantly enhance the standing of BriSCA F2 Stock Cars
in the public eye in general and the motorsport world in particular
- greatly increase the sponsorship and financial backing for the
sport
- obtain sponsors for all Championship events
Brown,
has many years of experience in short oval racing, both as a photographer
of some repute, and most notably as racing administrator for GMP
Scotland. His involvement in the sport has covered many aspects
of short oval racing – raceday administration, press and publicity,
photography work, and leading the drive for better exposure at the
NEC. He has also been the driving force behind the successful BriSCA
F2 Partnership scheme, which allows businesses to become official
merchandisers/traders for the formula.
Coupled
with this fresh initiative, Brown has also been given the go ahead
to pursue similar marketing and sponsorship opportunities on behalf
of the Oval Racing Council (ORCi).

Chairman Gordon McDougall announced that after extensive testing

the next three years had been awarded to Yokohama.
The tyre, which will be legal for use from 1 January 2008 is the

each. This price will be maintaiedn throughout the three years,
subject to rises in RPI.
Drivers may continue to use the existing Avon 7.3x13 tyres for the
foreseeable future, and Brisca F2 will monitor the run out period.
Yokohama and George Polley Motorsport will support the formula with
a considerable sponsorship package which will be administered by
Brisca F2 , and in return, drivers will be encouraged to carry Yokohama
decals on their cars.
Brisca wish to make it clearly understood that one of the major
factors in concluding this deal was the fact that this tyre does
not respond to tyre softener, and Brisca F2 will be eliminating
